Ecology in a Changing Climate
Two Hemispheres - One Globe
Host City - Brisbane
Visiting Brisbane is like finding yourself in an adventure wonderland. There's so much to do and see, and your every desire is catered for - from quiet strolls along the river to the adrenaline rush of skydiving.

A good way to get your bearings when you first arrive is to explore the city by foot, by river cruise or by a speedy ferry. Take in the sights and discover why the river is so central to Brisbane life. More unusual tours include historic walking tours, specialist art tours with fine food and wine, adventure trike tours, ghost tours and eco tours.
Animal lovers can see Australian wildlife up close at Lone Pine or Alma Park Zoo. For the outdoors types, head out to sea on a fishing charter, or set sail on a sailing tour or cruise of Moreton Bay. And exploring nearby North Stradbroke and Moreton Island's beaches is a must.
Transportation
Brisbane has reliable and user-friendly integrated public transport system. Just one TRANSLink ticket will take you wherever you want to go on buses, trains, high-speed catamarans and traditional ferries. Airtrain, a dedicated airport to downtown train service, sees you in the city centre in just 20 minutes.
Buses
Buses run throughout downtown Brisbane and suburban areas from early morning to late at night every day, and until midnight on the weekends.
You can get around the city centre for free on Brisbane's ‘Downtown Loop'. Buses run every 10 minutes along two routes around the city – 7am to 5.50pm weekdays.
River Transport
Sleek, speedy CityCats and handy CityFerries let you commute or simply enjoy the Brisbane River from 5.50am – 10.30pm every day.
Train
Train services operate in downtown Brisbane and surrounding suburbs from early morning to midnight seven days a week. Airtrain runs every 15 minutes to and from downtown and the airport from 5am to 9pm every day. Regular train routes extend beyond Brisbane to its surrounding regions and the Queensland countryside and to interstate destinations throughout Australia.

Taxi/cabs
Taxi ranks are located at domestic and international air terminals and at numerous locations around downtown and suburban Brisbane. Cash, EFTPOS and credit cards accepted. Standard taxis carry a maximum of four passengers, some can take five. If you're travelling in a group, six-seater cabs or 11-seater maxitaxis can be conveniently ordered by telephone.
Venue – Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre

Located in the riverside South Bank precinct, heart of Brisbane’s cultural and entertainment activities, the Centre accommodates events for eight or 8,000 and all serviced to the same high standards of excellence.
With all its facilities under the one roof the Centre offers a fully integrated range of in-house services from its award winning catering, world class communications technology including Australia’s first dedicated Speakers’ Presentation Centre, and its own in-house Graphics and Signage Department.
